Overview

The faculty will be responsible for educational leadership and student instruction on a part-time and substitute basis in Architectural Technology courses.

Qualifications

Education:

-Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Architectural Technology, Architectural Engineering, Sustainable Design, or a related discipline.  (Minimum)

-Master's Degree in Architecture, Architectural Engineering, Architectural Technology, Sustainable Design or a related discipline.  (Desired)   

-Licensure as a Registered Architect or Professional Engineer.  (Desired)

-Formal coursework in Education.  (Desired)

Experience:

-Six (6) years of related professional experience, OR, a combination of successful teaching and trade experience.  (Minimum) 

-Teaching experience at the high school, trade school, or college level. (Desired) 

-Six (6) years’ experience utilizing CAD in design and construction documentation.  (Desired)

Abilities and Skills:

-Interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively and courteously with students, staff, faculty, and the public.  (Minimum) 

-Sensitivity to the expectations of students, faculty, and staff.  (Minimum) 

-Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in written form.  (Minimum) 

-Developed organizational skills.  (Minimum) 

-Demonstrated sensitivity to diversity and multicultural issues.  (Minimum)

 

 

Responsibilities

-Instruct and evaluate students in theory and lab courses in Architectural Technology to include one or more of the following: Structures; Professional Administration; Contract Documents; Building Codes; Estimating; Working Drawings (residential and commercial); Architectural Graphics; Materials and Methods; Computer-Aided Drafting; Basic Architectural Drafting; Sustainability and related courses.  (Essential)

-Maintain office hours as stated in the part-time agreement.  (Essential) 

-Maintain accurate written records of student performance.  (Essential) 

-Supervise students in laboratory clean-up activities.  (Essential) 

-Complete official student rosters and return to School Office as required. (Essential) 

-Provide coordination and supervision for instructional field projects.  (Essential) 

-Comply with College safety, hazardous waste disposal, and recycling policies.  (Essential) 

-Attend school and department meetings as requested.  (Marginal) 

-Assume responsibility for laboratory coordination and maintenance.  (Essential)

-Finalists must present a sample lesson.

-Candidates for teaching positions must be fluent in the English language (oral and written)– English Fluency in Higher Education Act. (Pennsylvania Senate Bill 539/Act No. 76.).

-This position is subject to a background check.

Pay Transparency

The part-time rate for 2023/24 will be the greater of $1140 per credit or $760 per contact hour, prorated for student enrollment under seven. The approved substitute pay rate is $47.50 per hour during the first week of substituting and the prorated part-time teacher rate for consecutive substitute assignments that exceed one week.
