Overview

The faculty will be responsible for educational leadership and student instruction on a part-time basis in the Construction Management program.

Qualifications

Education:

-Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management or related discipline. (Minimum)   

-Master's Degree in Construction Management or related discipline. (Desired)   

-Formal coursework in Education.  (Desired)

Experience:

-Six (6) years’ experience in construction management. (Minimum)  

-Teaching experience at the high school, trade school, or college level. (Desired)

Abilities and Skills:

-Interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively and courteously with students, staff, faculty, and the public.  (Minimum) 

-Sensitivity to the expectations of students, faculty, and staff.  (Minimum) 

-Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in written form.  (Minimum) 

-Developed organizational skills.  (Minimum) 

-Demonstrated sensitivity to diversity and multicultural issues.  (Minimum)

-Possession of a valid driver’s license. (Desired)

 

Responsibilities

-Instruct and evaluate students in construction management courses, i.e., Codes and specifications, surveying,  estimating, and Scheduling.  (Essential) 

-Assume responsibility for laboratory conditions and maintenance.  (Essential) 

-Maintain accurate written records of Student performance.  (Essential) 

-Provide coordination and supervision for instructional field projects.  (Essential) 

-Complete official Student rosters and return to School office as required.  (Essential) 

-Supervise students in lab clean-up activities.  (Essential) 

-Comply with College safety, hazardous waste disposal, and recycling policies.  (Essential) 

-Maintain office hours as stated in the part-time agreement.  (Essential) 

-Attend School and Department meetings as requested.  (Marginal)

Physical Standards and Special Job Features

Physical Standards:

-Some lifting not to exceed 50 lbs.

Special Job Features:

-Finalists must present a sample lesson.

-Candidates for teaching positions must be fluent in the English language (oral and written) – English Fluency in Higher Education Act. (Pennsylvania Senate Bill 539/Act No. 76.).

-May include some travel to off-campus instructional sites.

-This position is subject to a background check.

Pay Transparency

The part-time rate for 2023/24 will be the greater of $1140 per credit or $760 per contact hour, prorated for student enrollment under seven. The approved substitute pay rate is $47.50 per hour during the first week of substituting and the prorated part-time teacher rate for consecutive substitute assignments that exceed one week.
