Overview

Pennsylvania College of Technology is excited to invite individuals with a passion for teaching and a commitment for nurturing young minds to be a part of our dynamic team beginning Fall 2024. The qualified candidate will teach undergraduate level courses in Information Technology content areas, with an emphasis on software development and/or information assurance & cyber security course work. As a full-time faculty member, you will be responsible for delivering engaging in-person lectures, designing experiential learning activities, and providing individualized support to students. Additionally, you will develop and update curriculum materials, assess student progress, and collaborate with colleagues to enhance the overall learning experience. This is an exciting opportunity to prepare students for successful careers in the field of Information Technology.

Qualifications

Education:

-Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or appropriate, related discipline. (Minimum)

-Doctorate in Computer Science or appropriate, related discipline. (Desired)

Experience:

-Two (2) years of business, industry, government or nonprofit experience within the field of Information Technology, preference for candidate to have experience in information assurance and cyber security and software development. Other desired experience includes database administration, gaming and simulation and/or network and systems administration. (Minimum)

-Related College teaching experience in Information Technology. (Minimum)

-Course development and advising experience. (Desired)

-Additional professional development. (Desired)

-Two (2) years of full-time college teaching experience in Information Technology. (Desired)

-Advanced coursework or experience in the following areas: information assurance and cyber security, software development, game and simulation or networking. (Minimum)

-Interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively and courteously with students, staff, administration, and the public. (Minimum)

Responsibilities

-Instruct and evaluate student performance including, but not limited to information assurance and cyber security, computer programming, database programming/administration, gaming and simulation, and/or data communications and networking. (Essential)

-Advise, schedule, and maintain accurate records on students. (Essential)

-Write and update course syllabi; assist with curriculum review, revision, and development. (Essential)

-Maintain office hours according to contractual guidelines. (Essential)

-Engage in professional development and technological upgrading activities. (Essential)

-Contribute to the betterment of the College through School committee participation. (Essential)

-Contribute to the betterment of the College through College-wide committee participation. (Marginal)

-Assist with the writing and preparation of grant proposals and with follow-up activities. (Essential)

-Assist the Dean, Assistant Dean, and/or Department Head with the development and maintenance of learning assessment plans and documentation. (Essential)

-The terms and conditions of employment for this position are subject to all the provisions of the bargaining agreement between Pennsylvania College of -Technology and the Penn College Education Association.

-This position is subject to a background check.

-Day, evening, and weekend hours will be required to meet the needs of the academic program.

Pay Transparency

Commensurate with credentials submitted as applied to the College’s Faculty Salary System. As a point of reference, the salary range for new full-time faculty hired in various disciplines throughout the College for the 2023/24 academic year is $59,299 – $77,142. The wages, hours, and terms and conditions of employment for full-time teaching faculty, counselors and librarians (all regular College funded positions and certain grant/contract funded positions) are determined by the negotiated Agreement between Pennsylvania College of Technology and the Penn College Education Association. If you are currently receiving an annuity from the State or Public School Employees’ Retirement System, employment at Pennsylvania College of Technology may affect your annuity status. If you are currently a member of either the State or Public School Employees’ Retirement System you may be required to contribute into the System.
