Overview

This position will manage all activities related to projects and coordinate activities related programs within the PIRC. This person will perform hands-on testing, equipment operations, and other deliverables for the PIRC. The project manager will be responsible for establishing new and maintaining existing relationships with internal and external partners including clients. This person will provide instruction and support for PIRC training, programs and industry workshops.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Plastics, or related discipline, OR combination of education, training, work experience, and proven capacity in a project-oriented environment in technology development. Required
  • Master's Degree in a technical, business, or educational discipline relevant to the PIRC. Preferred

EXPERIENCE

  • Three (3) years' experience in an industrial/business environment or educational environment providing services directly to the plastics and thermoforming manufacturing sector. Required
  • Sales service experience in the plastics industry. Required
  • Five (5) years administrative experience. Preferred
  • Marketing/advertising experience. Preferred
  • Advanced technology manufacturing systems experience. Preferred
  • Research and development experience. Preferred

  • Knowledge of all plastics processes, materials analysis, mold design, and polymer processing. Required

Responsibilities

  • Maintain contact with clients in business and industry to assess and identify current and future project needs.
  • Assist in negotiations with industrial clients, university partners, and applicable funding agencies to develop specialized technology transfer programs, and develop details regarding project specifications, costs, and contracts.
  • Ensure updated and complete data is maintained by PIRC within training management and shared file systems.
  • Assist in evaluation of marketing programs for effectiveness and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Develop proposals, review, revise, customize, market and manage PIRC projects, seminars, and services in order to meet the needs of PIRC clients.
  • Provide oversight for project management, technical assistance, and expertise to project teams.
  • Assist in identifying, training and oversight of internal and external instructors.
  • Interpret customer requirements, match services to customer specifications/drawings and ensure the quote is technically compatible and competitive.
  • Interview and recommend for hire Research Assistants and Consultants involved in the delivery of training, seminars, and technical services as needed.
  • Assist the Director with executing the objectives and strategic planning of the PIRC.
  • Coordinate programming, faculty, and facilities usage in providing non-credit programming and services in appropriate business and technical areas.
  • Make decisions on project strategy and direction.
  • Assist in providing detailed information for grant opportunities specifically related to polymers.
  • Participate in College and community development initiatives relating to technical training, services, and innovation.
  • Assist with costing, sponsorship and contracts for all PIRC workshops, equipment, etc.
  • Coordinate and assist faculty with the delivery of training programs, seminars, and services.
  • Develop, coordinate, and provide instruction for apprenticeship courses.
  • Coordinate resources to ensure proper configuration and installation of computer software and hardware, as well as other equipment for effective delivery of training, projects, and demonstrations.
  • Provide leadership in the development, marketing, coordination, and implementation of training programs, seminars, and services, and provide direction to individuals supporting all related efforts.
  • Create account strategies, leading projects from conception to final execution.
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external partners.
  • Provide oversight and evaluation of college staff and students assigned to PIRC projects.
  • Maintain technical expertise and continuously expand knowledge of PIRC programs and operation and maintenance of plastics processing equipment as well as laboratory test equipment and procedures.
  • Maintain memberships and involvement with professional organizations and keep current with trends in the plastics/polymer industry, adult education, & training issues.

    Pay Transparency

    Based on minimum education and experience qualifications the yearly salary range is $70,000 - $76,000.
