Overview

The faculty will be responsible for providing student instruction, educational leadership, and the advisement of students in plumbing and heating courses within the HVAC Technology cluster areas.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's Degree Bachelor of Science in HVAC Technology or a related discipline, preferably with undergraduate studies from an institution accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) Required
  • Master's Degree In relevant field Preferred
  • Formal coursework in education. Preferred
  • Successful completion of the Pennsylvania Vocational Trade Competency Examination or equivalent. Preferred
  • Valid Driver's License Preferred

EXPERIENCE

  • Four (4) years of installation and service field experience. Required
  • Two (2) years of college/university teaching experience. Preferred
  • EPA Refrigerant Certification Universal Preferred
  • Experience in HVAC computer applications, including design software, and control integration and display. Preferred

  • Competence in oral and written communication skills. Required

  • Interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively and courteously with students, staff and other faculty. Required

Responsibilities

  • Instruct and evaluate student performance in HVAC Technology/plumbing and heating courses.
  • Provide coordination and supervision for instructional field projects.
  • Advise, schedule, and maintain accurate up-to-date records on students.
  • Maintain office hours according to contractual guidelines.
  • Write and update course syllabi; assist with curriculum review, revision, and development.
  • Assume responsibility for laboratory development, coordination and maintenance.
  • Comply with College safety, hazardous waste disposal, and recycling policies.
  • Engage in professional development and technological upgrading activities.
  • Contribute to betterment of College through School/Departmental committee participation.
  • Assist with the development of grant proposals and with follow-up activities.
  • Assist the Department Head, HVAC, in developing instructional material lists, equipment specifications, department budget requests, and assist in planning and development of the master schedule.
  • Assist in providing tours and student recruitment activities scheduled by the College, and/or department.

    Pay Transparency

    Commensurate with credentials submitted as applied to the College’s Faculty Salary System. As a point of reference, the salary range for new full-time faculty hired in various disciplines throughout the College for the 2023/24 academic year is $60,563 – $78,407.The wages, hours, and terms and conditions of employment for full-time teaching faculty, counselors and librarians (all regular College funded positions and certain grant/contract funded positions) are determined by the negotiated Agreement between Pennsylvania College of Technology and the Penn College Education Association. If you are currently receiving an annuity from the State or Public School Employees’ Retirement System, employment at Pennsylvania College of Technology may affect your annuity status. If you are currently a member of either the State or Public School Employees’ Retirement System you may be required to contribute into the System.
