Overview

This person will be responsible for educational leadership, student instruction, and student advising in Civil Engineering Technology.

 

The School of Engineering Technology has an immediate need for adjunct to teach Fluid Mechanics this fall:

 

  •  Monday/Wednesday from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM (lecture) and Thursday from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM (lab).

 

Additionally, the school may have a need for adjunct to teach Computer Applications for Civil Engineers:

 

  •  Monday/Wednesday from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM.

 

All classes will be held on campus.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering Technology or closely related engineering or science discipline. Required
  • Master's Degree in Civil Engineering or closely related engineering or science discipline. Preferred
  • Doctorate in Civil Engineering or closely related engineering or science discipline. Preferred

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

  • Professional Engineer (PE) licensure in Pennsylvania or another state transferable to Pennsylvania. Preferred
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate in Pennsylvania or another state transferable to Pennsylvania for candidates with a Bachelor's of Science degree. Required

EXPERIENCE

  • Four (4) years of fulltime work experience in civil engineering with Bachelor of Science and no advanced degree. Required
  • Experience in water resources and/or environmental engineering with Master of Science or Doctorate. Preferred
  • Knowledge of the ABET accreditation process. Preferred

ABILITIES AND SKILLS

  • Interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively and courteously with students, staff and the public. Required
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in written form. Required
  • Sensitivity to expectations of students, faculty, staff and the local community. Required
  • Developed organizational skills. Required
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to diversity and multicultural issues. Required
  • Knowledge and skills in the usage of modern tools used in water resources and land development disciplines of Civil Engineering. Preferred
  • Knowledge and skills in the usage of tools such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, Bentley OpenRoads, Microstation, WIN-TR55 (NRCS), and HEC-RAS. Knowledge and skills in the development and usage of Excel worksheets. Preferred

 

Responsibilities

  • Instruct and evaluate students in the theory and processes of Civil Engineering Technology.
  • Instruct and evaluate students in water resources and environmental engineering.
  • Advise, schedule, and maintain accurate records on students.
  • Maintain office hours according to contractual agreements.
  • Write and update course syllabi; assist with curriculum review, revision, and development.
  • Engage in professional development and technological upgrade activities.
  • Contribute to the betterment of the College through program and School committee participation.
  • Assume responsibility for laboratory development, coordination, and maintenance.
  • Attend department and School meetings when available.
  • Assist with the preparation of grant proposals and follow-up activities.
  • Assist the Dean, Assistant Dean, and/or Department Head with the development and maintenance of learning assessment plans and documentation.

  • ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Contribute to the betterment of the College through College-wide committee participation.

    Pay Transparency

    The part-time rate for 2024/25 will be the greater of $1160 per credit or $773 per contact hour, prorated for student enrollment under seven. The approved substitute pay rate is $48.31 per hour during the first week of substituting and the prorated part-time teacher rate for consecutive substitute assignments that exceed one week
