Overview

Under the supervisor of the Facilities Maintenance Manager, this individual will be responsible for leading maintenance staff and coordinating maintenance and projects of campus facilities. The team may include, but is not limited to, HVAC&R, Plumbing, kitchen equipment, General Maintenance Workers, Carpenters, Painters, Electricians, and other assigned personnel. Additionally, this person will delegate work requests via the College's Work Order System as needed. The work hours for this position are set by the College and may be subject to change. Academic year and summer hours are established to meet the needs of the department and the College. This position may be required to work during delays and snow closure days that may coincide with scheduled workdays. Overtime may also be required on short notice, including evenings, weekends, special events and call ins at the discretion of the appropriate supervisor; The role will involve using a College vehicle to travel between campuses and buildings. Additionally, this position will be subject to 24-hour emergency on-call as assigned and on a rotating basis and must respond within the required period.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

  • High school diploma. Required
  • Graduation from a recognized trade school or completion of a formal program recognized by the industry or trade. Preferred

EXPERIENCE

  • Five (5) years hands-on experience performing duties listed above in maintenance, educational, commercial, or industrial fields. Required
  • Six to Eight (6-8) years hands-on experience performing duties listed above in maintenance, educational, commercial, or industrial fields. Preferred
  • Demonstrated experience supervising multi-trade maintenance teams and coordinating/prioritizing assignments Required

ABILITIES AND SKILLS

  • Extensive knowledge of HVAC&R, Plumbing and Kitchen Equipment. Required
  • Ability to supervise and instruct staff and deal with confidential material and maintain its privacy. Required
  • Ability to read blueprints, drawings, etc. Required
  • Must be able to work on assignments with little supervision. Required
  • Familiarity or the ability to be trained to use computer/iPad applications such as college web-based programs and Microsoft Office and work order system. Required
  • Ability to work from heights. Required
  • Must have ability, training, and/or certification to utilize tools and equipment required to perform job duties. Required
  • Possession of a valid driver's license. Required

 

Responsibilities

  • Working under the direction of the Facilities Maintenance Manager lead maintenance staff and coordinate maintenance and projects of campus facilities.
  • Delegate and assign tasks as appropriate.
  • Actively participate in annual reviews with the Facilities Maintenance Manager.
  • Attend contractor meetings for the purpose of coordination of contract work.
  • Follow and enforce adherence to College policies and procedures.
  • Attend all required meetings and trainings.
  • Spot check employees performance/progress and report back to Manager.
  • Attend GS project meetings.
  • Attend meetings in the absence of the Facilities Maintenance Manager as assigned and report back to the Facilities Maintenance Manager, Associate Director or Director as appropriate.
  • Oversee outside vendors and contractors.

  • ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Monitor equipment and supply needs, coordinate with Manager, and requisition parts and service and repair of equipment and recommend purchase of equipment and supplies for shop operation, maintenance repairs and College projects.
  • Physical Standards and Special Job Features

    -Lifting 65 lbs. maximum, without assistance, with frequent lifting and carrying of objects up to 50 lbs.

    -May require climbing or working off ladders and scaffolding.

    -Will require travel between buildings.

    -Exposure to dust and harsh chemicals.

    -Work outdoors in extreme weather and temperature conditions.

    Pay Transparency

    Based on minimum education and experience qualifications the hourly range is $28.72 - $33.33.
