Overview

Qualifications

EDUCATION

  • Master's Degree of Science Degree in Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, or closely related discipline. Required
  • Knowledge of the ABET accreditation process. Preferred
  • Doctorate in Civil Engineering or closely related discipline Preferred

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

  • Professional Engineer (PE) License in Pennsylvania or another state transferable to Pennsylvania. Required

EXPERIENCE

  • Five (5) years of fulltime work experience in a Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology area. Required
  • Fulltime teaching experience at the college level in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology Preferred
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) and Professional Land Surveyor (P.L.S.) licensure in Pennsylvania or another state transferable to Pennsylvania. (P.E. for candidate with an master's degree) (Desired for candidate with a doctoral degree), OR, Professional Engineer (P.E.) and Surveyor-in-Training (LSIT) status in Pennsylvania or another state transferable to Pennsylvania Required
  • four (4) years experience in land surveying. Preferred

  • Interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively and courteously with students, staff and the public. Required
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in written form. Required
  • Sensitivity to expectations of students, faculty, staff, and the local community. Required
  • Developed organizational skills. Required
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to diversity and multicultural issues. Required
  • Knowledge and skills in the usage of AutoCAD and Microstation and the common surveying and civil engineering applications specifically designed for AutoCAD and Microstation. Preferred
  • Knowledge and skills in the development and usage of Excel worksheets. Preferred

 

Responsibilities

  • Instruct and evaluate students in the theory and processes of Civil Engineering Technology and Surveying Technology I the areas of computer applications (AutoCAD, Mcrostation, and Excel with associated extension packages); Construction Materials (behavior and testing of soil, wood, metal, asphalt, and concrete); and introductory courses such as statics and dynamics.
  • Advise, schedule, and maintain accurate records on students.
  • Maintain office hours according to contractual agreements.
  • Write and update course syllabi; assist with curriculum review, revision, and development.
  • Engage in professional development and technological upgrade activities.
  • Contribute to the betterment of the College through program and School committee participation.
  • Assume responsibility for laboratory development, coordination, and maintenance.
  • Attend department and School meetings as scheduled.
  • Assist with the preparation of grant proposals and followup activities.
  • Assist the Dean, Assistant Dean, and/or Department Head with the development and maintenance of learning assessment plans and documentation.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Contribute to the betterment of the College through Collegewide committee participation.

Pay Transparency

Commensurate with credentials submitted as applied to the College’s Faculty Salary System. As a point of reference, the salary range for new full-time faculty hired in various disciplines throughout the College for the 2024/25 academic year is $60,563 – $78,407.
