Overview

The faculty will be responsible for educational leadership, student instruction, and student advising in the Diesel Equipment Technology programs.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's Degree in Diesel Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Technology, or related discipline, OR, combination of an Associate Degree in a Diesel Equipment Technology related majors and significant work experience in the discipline area. Required
  • Master's Degree In a related discipline. Preferred

EXPERIENCE

  • Six (6) years of full-time diesel equipment technology related experience to include diesel engine overhaul, electrical troubleshooting, emissions systems troubleshooting, air conditioning, hydraulics and power train overhaul. Required
  • Experience with electric power generation technology. Preferred
  • Teaching experience at the secondary or postsecondary level or corporate/industry trainer experience. Preferred

ABILITIES AND SKILLS

  • Ability to pass the occupational competency examination in trade area within first three years of employment. Required
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively and courteously with students, staff, administration, and the public. Required
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in written form. Required
  • Sensitivity to the expectations of students, staff, administration, and the public. Required
  • Developed organizational skills. Required
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to diversity and multicultural issues. Required
  • Possession of a Pennsylvania Commercial driver's license. Preferred
  • Ability to obtain required ASE, AED or EGSA certifications as required for accreditation and depending on courses taught. Preferred

 

Responsibilities

  • Instruct and evaluate student performance in diesel equipment technology related topics.
  • Maintain industry training as required by accrediting body.
  • Assume responsibility for development, coordination, and maintenance of laboratory and field experiences.
  • Advise, schedule, and maintain accurate records on students.
  • Maintain office hours according to contractual guidelines.
  • Write and update course syllabi; assist with curriculum review, revision, and development.
  • Engage in professional development and technological upgrading activities.
  • Contribute to the betterment of the College through School committee participation.
  • Provide professional leadership.

  • ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Contribute to the betterment of the College through College-wide committee participation.
  • Assist with the preparation of grant proposals and with follow-up activities.
  • Physical Standards and Special Job Features

    Normal setting and tasks associated with role of a diesel technician but more of a supervisory position.

    Pay Transparency

    Commensurate with credentials submitted as applied to the College’s Faculty Salary System. As a point of reference, the salary range for new full-time faculty hired in various disciplines throughout the College for the 2023/24 academic year is $60,563 – $78,407.The wages, hours, and terms and conditions of employment for full-time teaching faculty, counselors and librarians (all regular College funded positions and certain grant/contract funded positions) are determined by the negotiated Agreement between Pennsylvania College of Technology and the Penn College Education Association. If you are currently receiving an annuity from the State or Public School Employees’ Retirement System, employment at Pennsylvania College of Technology may affect your annuity status. If you are currently a member of either the State or Public School Employees’ Retirement System you may be required to contribute into the System.
