Following standard procedures, this person will provide supervision of dental hygiene services related to the operation of the Dental Hygiene clinic in a non-faculty/non-teaching role. Some evenings may be required to meet the needs of the department.
Qualifications
EDUCATION
Graduation from a dental school accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) with eligibility for Pennsylvania licensure as a dentist. Required
EXPERIENCE
Three (3) years full time experience as a general dentist or specialty practice Required
ABILITIES AND SKILLS
Functional ability with computers or ability to learn computer functions. Required
Possession of a current Hepatitis B vaccination and willingness to maintain. Required
Responsibilities
Provide overall supervision of patient care rendered in the dental hygiene clinic.
Act as a consultant conferring with the dental hygiene faculty members assigned to clinic in regard to clinically related information and/or questions.
Provide a diagnostic dental examination and head/examination for patients treated in the dental hygiene clinic.
Prescribe and interpret dental radiographs.
Prescribe dental sealants, fluoride and other medicaments as deemed necessary.
Administer local anesthesia for pain control.
Manage medical emergencies that may occur during the clinical session.
Refer patients for follow-up diagnostic services.
Discuss dental diagnosis and treatment planning with patients, students and faculty.
Evaluate restorative/hard tissue charting and confirm documentation of pathology.
Ensure that clinical services are consistent with current dental practice.
Physical Standards and Special Job Features
Frequent and quick movement from one student station to another is required.
Pay Transparency
Hourly range is $60.00.
