Overview

The faculty will be responsible for providing educational leadership, student instruction, and advisement in the Building Construction Technology Department. This person will instruct and evaluate student performance in the associate and bachelor's degree programs in Building Construction Technology and Residential Construction Technology & Management.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction-related discipline and/or Workforce Education, or the ability to complete such in 3 years. Required
  • Master's Degree in Construction-related discipline and/or Workforce Education. Preferred
  • Evidence of continuing education and the pursuit of trade related certifications. Preferred

EXPERIENCE

  • Six (6) years work experience in hands-on construction, estimating and/or management in residential and/or commercial construction, with progressively increasing responsibilities. Required
  • Proficiency with software commonly used in residential construction areas. Preferred
  • Teaching experience at the secondary or postsecondary level. Preferred

ABILITIES AND SKILLS

  • Developed organizational skills. Required
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in written form. Required
  • Demonstrated professional manner in dealing with students, faculty, staff, and the public. Required
  • Demonstrated ability to address the intersecting viewpoints of a diverse, multicultural environment. Required
  • Willingness to further formal education in a graduate program related to education or construction. Required
  • Ability to qualify for and successfully complete the Occupational Competency Examination in the teaching specialty area. Preferred

 

Responsibilities

  • Instruct and evaluate student performance in the associate and bachelor degree programs in Building Construction Technology and Residential Construction Technology & Management.
  • Teach theory and lab courses on residential building methods and management.
  • Provide coordination and supervision for instructional field projects.
  • Advise, schedule, and maintain accurate records on students.
  • Maintain office hours according to contractual guidelines.
  • Write and update course syllabi; assist with curriculum review, revision, and development.
  • Assume responsibility for laboratory development, coordination, and maintenance.
  • Engage in professional development and technological upgrading activities.
  • Contribute to the betterment of the College through school committee participation.
  • Attend College, School, and Department meetings as scheduled.
  • Assist in providing tours and student recruitment activities scheduled by the College, School, and/or department.
  • Collect, maintain, analyze and write student outcomes assessment data for use within the department and School.

  • ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Contribute to the betterment of the College through Collegewide committee participation.
  • Assist with the development of grant proposals and follow up activities.
  • Physical Standards and Special Job Features

    • Some lifting not to exceed 40 lbs. will be required.
    • Some work from ladders and scaffolds may be required.

    Pay Transparency

    Commensurate with credentials submitted as applied to the College’s Faculty Salary System. As a point of reference, the salary range for new full-time faculty hired in various disciplines throughout the College for the 2024/25 academic year is $60,563 – $78,407.
