Overview

Following standard procedures, this person will perform secretarial, clerical, and reception functions related to the operation of the Dental Hygiene Clinic and for the Director of Dental Hygiene.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

  • High School Diploma or GED or equivalent. Required
  • Previous clerical/office training and/or education with dental/medical terminology. Preferred

EXPERIENCE

  • Two (2) years of clerical and/or secretarial experience, OR, a degree in postsecondary secretarial science, OR, equivalent combination of experience and education. Required
  • One (1) year experience in a dental office environment. Preferred

ABILITIES AND SKILLS

  • Working knowledge with personal computers and Microsoft Office applications. Required
  • Ability to resolve routine problems with accuracy and composure. Required
  • Knowledge of office procedures and proficiency in spelling, grammar, composition of letters, typing, and filing. Required
  • Ability to work with limited supervision. Required
  • Capable of dealing with a variety of assignments simultaneously. Required
  • Developed organizational skills. Required

 

Responsibilities

  • Perform accurate bookkeeping duties for the clinic, record fees collected, and deposit monies per current College procedures
  • Perform intake duties for all patients, including distribution of guest parking passes, confirming appointments, notifying student clinician of patient's arrival.
  • Set up and maintain the patient computerized appointment system.
  • Perform all duties related to patient billing, payment collection notices, and grade holds.
  • Locate and assign dentists and substitute clinic faculty, as needed, to cover each clinic session.
  • Assist the Clinical Director of Dental Hygiene with the reviewing, editing, and finalizing all clinic forms and the Program Manual.
  • Tabulate data on student performance, patient numbers, and other information needed to complete the annual report (CODA) and the accreditation self study.
  • Provide secretarial support for all clinic correspondence and prepare all clinic forms for printing and duplicating. Obtain bids/prices for clinic supplies and forward order to Program Secretary.
  • Work with program faculty and staff in planning, staffing, and executing special activities such as Career Day, Open House and Admission Tours.
  • Orient new students to the patient scheduling system.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist Infection Control Technician with the preparation of patient charts for archiving.
  • Maintain a neat and orderly reception area.

Pay Transparency

Based on minimum education and experience qualifications the hourly range is $13.65 - $16.00.
