Overview

The faulty will be responsible for educational leadership, student instruction, and student advising in the Welding & Fabrication Engineering Technology department. They will instruct and evaluate student performance in one or more of the following welding areas: weld design, high energy density welding processes, fabrication of alloys, non-destructive testing, welding codes and procedures, and/or foundational welding processes (Shielded Metal Arc Welding, Gas Metal Arc Welding, Gas Tungsten Arc Welding, and Flux Cored Arc Welding).

Qualifications

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's Degree in Welding Engineering, Welding Technology, or closely related discipline. Required
  • Master's Degree or Ph.D. in Engineering, Education, or closely related discipline. Preferred

EXPERIENCE

  • Five (5) years of industrial experience in welding. Required
  • Curriculum development experience in vocational education. Preferred
  • Successful teaching experience. Preferred
  • Experience with outcomes assessment and/or ABET accreditation. Preferred
  • Experience with Non-Destructive Testing, High Energy Density Processes and/or Robotics. Preferred

ABILITIES AND SKILLS

  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in written form. Required
  • Willingness to participate in advanced training programs which may require travel, with or without accommodation. Required
  • Possession of a valid driver's license. Preferred

 

Responsibilities

  • Instruct and evaluate student performance in one or more of the following welding areas: weld design, high energy density welding processes, fabrication of alloys, non-destructive testing, welding codes and procedures, and/or foundational welding processes (Shielded Metal Arc Welding, Gas Metal Arc Welding, Gas Tungsten Arc Welding, and Flux Cored Arc Welding).
  • Advise, schedule, and maintain accurate records on students.
  • Maintain regular office hours and fulfill all other duties and responsibilities according to contractual guidelines.
  • Write and update course syllabi; assist with curriculum review, revision, and development.
  • Engage in professional development and technological upgrading activities.
  • Contribute to betterment of College through School wide committee participation.
  • Assume responsibility for laboratory development, coordination, and maintenance.
  • Attend School and department meetings as requested by the Dean, Assistant Dean, and/or Department Head.
  • Participate in program review.
  • Assist the Dean, Assistant Dean, and/or Department Head with the development and maintenance of outcomes assessment plans and documentation.

  • ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Contribute to betterment of College through College-wide committee participation.
  • Assist with the preparation of grant proposals and with follow-up activities.

    Commensurate with credentials submitted as applied to the College’s Faculty Salary System. As a point of reference, the salary range for new full-time faculty hired in various disciplines throughout the College for the 2023/24 academic year is $63,747 – $81,694.The wages, hours, and terms and conditions of employment for full-time teaching faculty, counselors and librarians (all regular College funded positions and certain grant/contract funded positions) are determined by the negotiated Agreement between Pennsylvania College of Technology and the Penn College Education Association. If you are currently receiving an annuity from the State or Public School Employees’ Retirement System, employment at Pennsylvania College of Technology may affect your annuity status. If you are currently a member of either the State or Public School Employees’ Retirement System you may be required to contribute into the System.
